A former Representative in the Maine House of Representatives, Genevieve is a highly regarded and influential figure in Maine policy circles. During her time in the State Legislature, she served as House Chair of the Government Oversight Committee and was a member of the Marine Resources Committee. She is a long-time advocate for sustainable marine fisheries management, climate change resiliency strategies, and environmental policy. 

As a lawmaker, Genevieve earned a reputation as a collaborative and effective leader who helped achieve critical victories that increased access to public health services and improved the lives of Maine families. She has sponsored or cosponsored bills to broaden child protective services, expand support for first responders and healthcare workers, and promote environmentally responsible and sustainable energy generation to address the growing needs of the region. She has served on multiple working groups of the Maine Climate Council and currently sits on the Board of Advisors for the William S. Cohen Institute for Leadership and Public Service.

Prior to and during her time as an elected official, Genevieve was captain of a commercial fishing boat in Stonington, Maine. She was the first woman appointed to the Maine Department of Marine Resources Lobster Advisory Council, where she served eight years as the Downeast Region Representative. In 2013, Genevieve became a global advocate for women in the commercial fishing industry. She is credited with inspiring one of the world’s largest commercial fishing safety gear manufacturers to create a women’s line for the first time in its 100-year history. 

Genevieve is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Maine, Orono. She lives on Deer Isle with her husband, Cory, and their two daughters.
