Kris Erickson is a Policy Advisor with Preti Strategies and works with clients to develop strategies to more efficiently and effectively interact with state agencies and the Massachusetts Legislature.

With more than 20 years of public policy and legislative experience in Massachusetts, Kris represents a broad range of clients before various state agencies and the legislature.  His extensive knowledge of these complex institutions and their inner workings helps clients achieve their desired results.

While working in state government, Kris served in a variety of senior leadership positions.  Most recently he served as Chief Of Staff at the MBTA, helping to lead the $1.7B agency with more than 6100 employees. During this time, Kris managed the transportation interagency coordination efforts and worked directly with the Registry of Motor Vehicles, Massachusetts Port Authority, Massachusetts Highway Department, the Department of Conservation and Recreation and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.

Kris began his career in the Massachusetts State Senate as Minority Leader Richard R. Tisei’s Legislative Director, and later as his Chief of Staff, managing legislative affairs on a range of public policy areas including health care, energy, financial services, public safety, transportation, economic development, housing, among many others.

Following the Senate, Kris served as the Director of Business Development for Rivers’ Edge. The public/private partnership sought to assemble 200 acres of underutilized brownfields property in the cities of Malden, Medford and Everett.  In this role, he worked jointly with the three municipalities and the congressional and legislative delegations to attain state and federal funding.  His understanding of the budget process and how to build coalitions helped to secure millions in state and federal grants and earmarks for the partnership

Kris also served as Chief of Staff at MassHighway and as the Legislative Director at the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT).  During his time at MassDOT, Kris directed the entire legislative effort on behalf of all transportation agencies.  He routinely interacted with members of the House of Representatives and the State Senate helping to shape transportation policy.

Kris lives in Natick with his wife and two daughters and is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts.
